What I loved about it!

Let’s be honest: building a website from scratch can be a daunting task.  A lousy website tells customers you’re not professional while a great one will have them flocking back for more!  I knew that I had a so-so website when I signed up for Tara’s 8 week course but I wanted one I could be proud of.  I wanted a site that shouted my brand!  I wanted a site that wooed my customers and left them in awe!  I didn’t think I could handle learning HTML though, so I was sweating bullets when the course started.  Thankfully, Tara knew that all of us course members were terrified of code.  She broke down all of the technical WordPress lingo and made everything accessible and fun.  She teaches the most basic HTML codes but really that’s all you need to create a professional site that will awe your customers and you.  (Believe me, I used to have to bribe my boyfriend with cookies to make him do my coding but now I can update my site whenever I want thanks to Tara’s help!)

What makes Tara’s course unique?

There are many courses and books out there that show you how to create a WordPress site.  (I don’t even want to tell you how many books I checked out from the library.  They’re all very useful but Tara offers something more: the insight on how to build a site that’s just for YOU.  The tools are all the same from course to course but it’s how you use them that makes all the difference in the website.  Tara provided us with website examples from extraordinary product makers, service providers, and bloggers to help us understand what the main purpose of our site would be and how we want our customers to move through it.  It wasn’t all about the bells and whistles though.  Tara emphasized how to make my brand the centerpiece of the website.  (After all, your website should mirror your product in terms of aesthetic and beliefs.)  Honestly, none of the books I got from the library discussed that!

Best of the best!

Multiple ways to learn!  I loved the integration of videos (believe me, step-by-step instructions have never been easier), text, and the group calling sessions.  It was wonderful to see what the other course members created week by week.  Tara offered real support and answered any question I asked (whether it was in the forum or via email or via the calls).  She’s the BIG thing that most how-to courses lack: human help.  How could I be afraid to mess up when I knew Tara would be right there to help me fix it?

Website Kickstarter is the course I WISH I’d taken when I FIRST created my own site.  Instead, I toughed it out and taught myself.  It took me 3 months, 6 batches of cookies (to bribe my boyfriend for coding help), countless hours of screaming at the computer, darning WordPress to an internet heck, and weeping (yes, I actually cried a few times I was so frustrated).  As soon as I found out about Tara’s course, I was over like a shot!  I’m being truthful here.  Building a website is HARD.  But when someone is right there to help you, (heck, when a whole bunch of course mates are there to help you – not to mention a tech support team) it feels so good!  We all made stupid mistakes and laughed about it; I accidentally turned my entire website Shrek green.  After 8 weeks of Tara’s coaching and a lot of hard work, I sat back (with a celebratory piece of cake) and looked at my website with pride.  Not just because I built it myself but because it was MADE for MY brand.

Enrollment Tara’s last Website Kickstarter course with tech support closes on April 17th.  If you had ‘Build a Killer Website’ on your to-do list for this year, or if it’s on your resolution for next year, I would highly recommend signing up!
