Things We Loved About House 3003’s Site:

  • We absolutely adored this site!  The branding with the soft colors in the photography and the soft colors in the text match well.
  • The logo is cute and simple, lending to the message of their love of outdoor photography and keeping the photographs looking natural.
  • A lot of photographers make their package page hard to understand but House 3003 makes it quite simple.  Not only do they spell out exactly how many photos you get in each package, but they have visuals to go with it.
  • Great explanations of the steps involved from the photo shoot to the printing.  This eliminates a lot of barriers to buy because the customer knows EXACTLY what to expect.

Things We Would Tweak:

  • Change the positions of the blog and the gallery in the menu navigation tab.  Decide what is the ONE page you’d like your customers to go to after the home page and make sure that’s the second one on the menu bar.  For a photography business, generally you would want your gallery to be the one page people go to because it will show them what your work looks like and thus entice them to buy.
  • We want to see a photograph of you or your team on your about page.  After all, you’re all about pictures so we want to see you!
  • This is a small thing but it’s something that often gets overlooked.  Your copyright at the bottom of your pages is a bit out of date.  It’s super easy to fix but it will make sure you’re legally covered.
  • You have your newsletter sign-up box in a very visible spot but you don’t tell your customers what to expect, and thus we’re guessing your sign-up is pretty low.  People don’t like signing up for things they don’t know anything about so make sure they’re aware what you’ll be sending them and how often.
  • Especially for service businesses like photography, testimonials from satisfied customers can work wonders for your conversion rates.  Make sure your future customers know just how great you are to work with!
  • We looked through your blog and found so many beautiful photos…but no text.  What do you see as the purpose of your blog?  Is it to let your customers know more about the person behind the business?  Is it to share your most recent shoots?  If it’s the latter, then write a few paragraphs about the experience so that people can feel your passion for what you do.

We hope this critique helps not only House 3003 but you as well.  There’s never an end to the tiny tweaks you can make to your site to increase sales and make your customers happy. Please let us know below if this critique helped you with your site!
