We found an amazing blogger this week and we’re so excited to share his story and advice with you!  If you’ve ever wanted to start a blog or want to make money from your writing, you’ll definitely want to visit his blog.  Marko Saric went from starting a blog to giving talks on the art of blogging.  Happy reading!

In case people don’t already know about you, would you mind sharing a bit about yourself and your amazing blog/business?

I’m Marko Saric and I blog at How to Make My Blog where I share my tips and lessons learned about starting and building a successful blog.

Why are you so passionate about helping others create successful blogs?

I love blogging. Blogging has given me many great experiences and benefits in my life. I would love more people to achieve some of their goals, ambitions and dreams as well, and blogging is one of the easiest (if not the easiest) way to start online, create your own platform, showcase your abilities and build an audience. An article that I’ve posted earlier this month summarizes why I love blogging: http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/blogging/bloggers-rock-infographic/

In your experience, what is the most common mistake business blog owners make?

The most common mistake bloggers make is thinking that blogging is easy. Everyone hears all the stories and sales pitches about people getting tons of visitors to their blogs or getting rich quick and making money, but it definitely doesn’t happen very often or very easily. Instead a lot of time and effort needs to be put into it before you can see any results and as beginner bloggers have too high expectations for quick wins they give up too quickly if they don’t see fireworks after couple of weeks.

What have you personally gained from helping so many people and speaking at so many conferences?

For me it’s all part of a bigger learning and personal development process. I still blog all the time and still share all the new tips and tricks that I’m learning as I’m going along this journey. Meeting new people, hearing from new perspectives, getting new experiences, testing new things, learning new skills, improving the way I communicate… It all expands my own mind and helps me become a better person.

Did you ever fear this blog wouldn’t take off and support you as it does?  How did you overcome that fear?

Blogging can be a very volatile industry so fears and concerns can happen at any time. It’s about believing in your project, believing in what you are doing and believing in yourself and your own abilities. As mentioned earlier it is hard work and takes a lot of time and effort to become a successful blogger and there are many ups and downs along the way all the time. Belief is what keeps you going through it all.

Is the website you made at age 16 still Denmark’s official Metallica fan club?

Yes, it still exists but I’m unfortunately not very active anymore in the community. I still love Metallica and they are a continuous inspiration to me but because of my work, my blog and other commitments there is just not enough time for it all.
